The throwdown is on every Friday night
Naps. Crustless PB&J. Glitter stickers. Some of the biggest childhood hits stand the test of time, including the all-out-sweaty-palms-trophy-on-the-line spelling bee. We’re bringing it back with a late-night, grown-up version: Boozy Bee.
Every Friday in May, head to Wheelhouse to see the competition go down. No, better yet, take it on yourself! Up to 20 competitors can join in each week (details below on how to reserve your spot) and to the winner goes the spoils: bragging rights and a $100 gift card toward the night’s bar tab. Plus, the top three finishers will advance to compete in the grand championshiippppp *echo for dramatic effect* on May 31. The final prize: private beer dinner for six at Wheelhouse (valued at $500).
So take a shot of liquid courage to limber up your grammar-school muscles, and reserve your spot in advance by emailing our hive monitor, firstname.lastname@example.org. (A few spaces will be saved for walk-up competitors, but best to grab your spot early—and start practicing.)
In the competition, you’ll be able to ask for definitions, languages of origin, parts of speech, usage, etc. You can also earn a few advantages (“Phone a Friend,” “Ask the Audience,” or “Skip the Word”) with support from audience members who complete a few social media challenges during the event. So yeah, bring the whole crew and game on.
The Details: Wheelhouse, 1617 Hi Line Drive. Every Friday in May (3, 10, 17, 24, and 31). Complimentary valet parking. 9–11 p.m.
