The Brew Crew

These guys are dead serious about drinks.

What was once old is new again in Deep Ellum – specifically, the former corporate office of Genghis Grill, which now houses super chill brew pub BrainDead Brewing.

According to co-owner Sam Wynne, no day is ever the same when it comes to the beverage menu at BrainDead. He and his partner Jeff Fryman are constantly changing out the 32 beer and cider taps, although at least four of their house-made brews will always be available for sampling. “We make sure we’re buying the best beer around,” Wynne says. “Part of that involves carrying a fair amount of local beer, but we also have some greats from the American craft beer scene.”

On top of the extensive beer selection (think double chocolate stout from Rogue Ales and Spirits and Funkwerk’s Tropic King), chef David Peña has created a not- your-average-brewerymenu. Oh yeah, there’s a pretty great patio too, making your afternoon plans a no-brainer.
