THE BREW CREW

The height of hops in Deep Ellum

According to co-owner Sam Wynne, no day is ever the same when it comes to the beverage menu at BrainDead Brewing in Deep Ellum. He and his partner Jeff Fryman are constantly changing out the 32 beer and cider taps, although at least four of their house-made brews will always be available for sampling. “We make sure we’re buying the best beer around,” Wynne says. “Part of that involves carrying a fair amount of local beer, but we also have some greats from the American craft beer scene.”

On top of the extensive beer selection (think double chocolate stout from Rogue Ales and Spirits and Funkwerk’s Tropic King), chef David Peña has created a not- your-average-brewery menu. Oh yeah, there’s a pretty great patio too, making your afternoon plans a no-brainer. —Margaux Anbouba
