The Design District gets down for a cause

Last night, Dallas Contemporary hosted the sixth annual MTV RE:DEFINE, a fundraising event and contemporary art auction. Chaka Khan performed, while throughout the night, attendees placed bids on art curated by Neville Wakefield. Works by Damien Hirst, Bruce Weber, Shepard Fairey, and Michael Craig-Martin were among the lineup for sale.

Guests dined on tastings from two new Design District restaurants: soon-to-open Sassetta at the seated dinner and Wheelhouse at the after-party. The night’s celebrated guest, Libertine designer Johnson Hartig, stayed late to DJ the after-party as his rowdy persona “Johhny Boy”.

Proceeds from the night will benefit the Dallas Contemporary and MTV Staying Alive Foundation, a global HIV prevention and awareness charity. Click here to see a gallery of more pics.
