A look into TASCHEN’s Eyewear: A Visual History
Moss Lipow is the Imelda Marcos of eyeglass collectors. But instead of keeping his collection all to himself, the designer and 2010 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalist is sharing the wealth in the TASCHEN tome Eyewear: A Visual History.
Lipow spent two decades scouring auction houses, estate sales, flea markets, and even local garage sales for the most unique in specs. His dogged determination has paid off, resulting in one of the finest frame collections in the world.
The chronological optical journey spans 500 years and features diverse eyewear from a bone-and- leather sunshield worn by Eskimos to opulent and over-the-top shades donned by the likes of Elton John, Lady Gaga, and the Olsen twins.
