What To Do This Weekend
Start and end your weekend seeing some stars.
-Jackson Pollock at the Dallas Museum of Art. See the world in black and white, thanks to the late famed splatter-paint artist Jackson Pollock. While you’ll probably recognize a few of the pieces, it’s the lesser-known ones that are the focus of the exhibit. By comparing the two, museum-goers can gain a broader appreciation for the artist and what he achieved when he wasn’t at the height of his popularity. The Details: Blind Spots is on display until March 2016. Tickets are $16. More information here.
-Erykah Badu’s Birthday Party. Celebrate the Queen of Neo-Soul’s birthday at The Bomb Factory. There will be surprise live performances and special guests you won’t want to miss. The Details: 2713 Canton Street. More details and tickets here.
-Tea at The TASCHEN Library. Sip tea, nibble on beautiful bites, and kick back a little champagne while surrounded by gorgeous TASCHEN books. The Details: Inside the lobby of The Joule, 1530 Main. $59 per person, includes tax and gratuity. Tea guests receive 10% off TASCHEN purchases. Reservations required: firstname.lastname@example.org.
-Rocky Horror Burlesque Show. Oh baby—this is going to be a good one. The show will celebrate all of the sexual, crazy, and fun-loving scenes The Rocky Horror Picture Show is known for, adding in a lot of striptease. The Details: 231 West Jefferson Boulevard, Ticket start at $20.
-Oscars Watch Parties. Is Leo finally going to get that Oscar? Watch (possible) history unfold on the big screens of Round Up Saloon and the Texas Theater, details for both on our calendar page.
