SHAKING THINGS UP

The whispers are true! Award-winning bartender and influential fixture in the city's cocktail scene, Gabe Sanchez, will be joining The Joule team to spearhead the reopening of Midnight Rambler

Over the past ten years, Sanchez made his mark on Dallas nightlife as founder of Deep Ellum’s Black Swan Saloon, a small dive with no menu that promised white-glove service in a black moto-jacket setting.

But as 2020 came to a close, Sanchez sold the bar to move onto new ventures. As general manager of Midnight Rambler, Sanchez will reimagine the subterranean bar’s cocktail program. True to his track record as Best Bartender in Dallas (as awarded many years over by Dallas Observer and D Magazine), Sanchez will focus on service as a core principle.

“Of course the cocktails themselves are important, but I think the most important part of a bar experience is to make people feel comfortable and wanted,” Sanchez says. “With bartenders, it’s part of the whole process—an intimate sort of give and take. And there’s no better vibe in the city where that happens.” he says of Midnight Rambler.

Along with his work in Midnight Rambler, Sanchez will be building cocktail programs for other outlets of The Joule, including The Lobby Bar, CBD Provisions, and the newly announced relocation of Sassetta. Moving to The Joule from its original spot in the Design District, its sure to be downtown’s next destination dining experience.

In anticipation of Midnight Rambler’s spring 2021 reopening, Sanchez will be hosting a limited series of private cocktail classes for groups of 10-18 people. Whether diving deep into a particular spirit or providing a sneak peek into Sanchez’s research and development of the new menu, these classes will provide a personalized cocktail experience unlike any other in Dallas.
