ON THE MOVE

ON THE MOVE

We found the most versatile bag for travel days. You’re welcome.

Most of the best travel conveniences are relatively new. (Where were we before noise-cancelling headphones?!) But one of the most clever travel bags hasn’t changed a bit since its launch in the 60s. Italian bag designer and Valextra founder Giovanni Fontana concepted the ingenious Tric Trac Bag while watching busy people passing by the large windows of his workshop in Milan.

The wristbag is a marvel of construction with an origami-style top that folds over itself to open and snap closed. (The optional crossbody strap allows you to navigate hands-free through wherever your adventures take you.) Flip it over, and a second zipper section at the base allows easy access to credit cards, passport, or the charming reporter’s notebook that’s included to make you feel like a writer for Vogue Italia.

Although several of Fontana’s bags have won international design awards over the decades, the Tric Trac remains one of his most enduring—a symbol of thoughtfulness and ingenuity.
