WARM FUZZIES
What we’re wearing as soon as the mercury drops
There’s an old joke in Texas that the furs come out as soon as the temps drop below 60. And while that’s an exaggeration, it’s not untrue that the fashion set in Dallas love their winter layers and need little excuse to don them.
“I’ve observed a greater emphasis on texture this Fall,” says Traffic LA at The Joule store director Enosh Williams. “We’re embracing a strong sense of warmth and elevation.”
Among Williams’ favorite pieces are cozy knits and mohair pieces. “Green and black are currently trending,” he notes while selecting a sprayed-finish cardi from Marni that looks like a grownup Brat-summer girl’s dream. And with the holidays around the corner, you can’t go wrong with something red and cozy, like a crewneck sweater from Isabel Marant.
The fuzzies influence doesn’t stop at Ready-to-Wear; shoes, bags, and accessories, too, have been winterized with texture and fur. Among the standouts at Traffic LA: the Rick Owens Porterville Lunar Mega Tractor Fur Boots and the Fussbett Sabot Mules from Marni. While the calf-hair mules come in a rainbow of tempting shades, Williams gravitates toward a cool grey that looks like concrete. “Elevated comfort is the vibe for Fall 2024,” he says.
